wicnc is a controller for a lot and i mean a lot of motion control applications. these include factorys and applications around the world, one of thier largest end users is in russia. the reason we use it is just one application.
CAMaster came along created an awful lot of really cool macros and configurations that serve our world really well and so far i have yet to find anything i needed that is not there.. that said if you want to go further than flat table and rotary cnc then you may wish to look into motion control at a college or contact wincnc directly (they have an hourly rate) i kinda sense from both speaking to you and what you are posting that you feel something is hidden or that we are left out for some reason,, yet i know this not to be true
we are very fortunate to have as much wincnc background available to us as we do, i can tell you most other cnc companys settle for a lot less for thier customers.
so if the question is "Anyone have a clue??????????" my answer is do we need one.
there is no application of what you are seeking that i have ever seen needed and there fore never asked.
should you contact them and find some issue of importance well let us know.

I'm a "plug and play" kind of guy.
It takes me awhile to start changing things. Too many thing to do other than the cnc.
I do trust what I get, until it doesn't do what I want.
So far, so good.
Maybe when I sitting on the beach somewhere I'll really start tearing it apart. I figured the "FIRE" was just enough playing for awhile.
From everything I have read, which is not much, but WINCNC comes across as a very sound program.
Try some of the options and let us know what you find,,,we all need help.
A video report would be great.

I don't know if maybe I didn't make myself clear. I did a restart program and had some issues and problems getting my program to restart. I saw the many options when the restart screen comes up and asked"do we use any of these"? Are any of them needed for my restart as I had a problem doing a restart. I also noticed Jim, in your video you has two options checked "Restore Vertical Axis" and "Wait for user". So when I do a restart do I use these options or were they just for the program yo
u were showing on your video.
So from all the feed back I have received I take it when I do a restart I leave all of the option fields blank.
If the options don't pertain to restart of a file , great. Then I don't care about them. I'm just looking for anyone to tell me do I use them or not??

the answer is no,,
interesting thing is i just went back and read johnnys response and understood it !!! in other words those commands or features are only there if predetermined in the ini file,, as they are unnecessary for us then they aint there !! yet if we had a need they would be

Tony,
It's hard to keep up with all the changes that are made to the restart (as well as many other parts of WinCNC).
There is a file that is put out with every copy of WinCNC called "VERSIONS.DOC". It is updated every time Microsystems puts a new version out.
I believe that all versions up until version 2.5 was introduced were included into the "VERSIONS.DOC" file for version 2.4.11.
When version 2.5 was released, WinCNC decided to start over with the "VERSIONS.DOC" file, so it starts from "0.5.00a".
Most technical information can be found in one of these two files. There is usually some small description of any change done to WinCNC in one of these files.
Don't expect some in-depth description or definition of what you're looking for, but there's usually some reference to any change to WinCNC.
These two files are where I turn to for an idea of many things.
Here is the reference I found in the 2.4.11 "VERSIONS.DOC" file to what you are asking about.
Quote:
• Updated the File->Restart dialog box to include options to use or not use the vertical axis position restore, restart macro, restart feed macro, and restart first macro. These variables are set in the WINCNC.INI as “RESTART=V#”, “CMDRESTART=”, “CMDRESTARTFEED=”, and “CMDRESTARTRAPID=”. Checking or un-checking these boxes on the File->Restart dialog box will determine if the commands are used or not used during the file restart.
What this means is that for any of the above mentioned macros to have any effect, they must be pre-defined in your wincnc.ini file.
None of these are defined in mine.
I use 'Restore Vertical Axes" and "Wait For User".
If you have more questions about the restart, Tony, I'd have Joey contact one of the guys at WinCNC. He can probably get a better description of everything from one of them than I can give. After all, he probably talks to them every day or two.
Sorry I'm not more help here.

Tony, if you read my post, I said I use 'Restore Vertical Axes" and "Wait For User".
Maybe I should have said I use that every time. Sorry, I tried.
