I had the opportunity to talk to another CNC operator and he had a pretty good piece of information I thought would be good to share. He explained a machine controller ( Computer ) should be privy to the machine operation only. We have put on our internet, favorite websites, music, Rodgers porno sites and just about everything else we can for convenience.
Not good.
Any machine without a proprietary control computer is open for problems. I don't know about anyone else but I was a big culprit in having a lot of programs on my computer. I was given this websirte by this operator which I found very helpful to get your computer cleaned up.

Jim, that's true, however I have talked to some other Camheads who have had issues with wireless internet on their machine computers and thought this might be helpful.

I think what you say may be true for some CNC operating programs, Mach3 for instance, from what I have heard, uses computer resources while operating, hence anything else you may do on the computer can and will affect Mach 3.
WinCNC however operates independently of computer resources, so is not likely to be affected when running other programs.

Tony, how the heck can you get wireless internet there when you still have to climb the pole to make a phone call?

I used my CNC computer 90% for operating the CNC the other 10% while operating is crossloop, Skype, notepad and streaming my webcam. I very rarely search the Internet while using the CNC
I would turn off automatic windows updates if you run your machine late in the evening/night because this seems the time when your computer does its updates. I found it out the hard way, one evening my computer just rebooted during cutting, so since then no automatic updates for me, I check for updates manually prior the cutting.
