Earlier this year I built a 35mm adapter like this (http://www.redrockmicro.com/micro35.html) for someone. The box I used had a 2.2 degree draft on the bottom, so that when bolted to a sliding mount, it tilted back 2.2 degrees. I cut a pocket into MDF and pressed the mount in to hold it, then shimmed up the MDF jig so it sat at 2.2 degrees. I used a facing operation to flatten out the top. The cut was smooth and the aluminum cut like butter.
