View Full Version : I am getting a little suspicious

When I ordered my Stinger Joey told me I would have it in 5 or 6 weeks. I have not received it yet or even heard...oh...wait a minute, that was just yesterday. Hmmm...sure seems like a lot longer when you have to wait.:.(
Lord, teach me patience...NOW!
I recently closed my business for health reasons and retired. I sold two CNC routers (Techno 4x4 and ShopBot 5x10) and wanted something small for hobby use. I will probably still do a few custom grips but not the volume I was doing before.
We made pistol grips, cremation urns and fireplace mantels/decorative wall hangings as well as laser etched headstones for the monument industry. We kept our 36"X51" laser, which is now in the garage so maybe I didn't retire after all...just scaled waaaay back.
I have been watching this forum for a while and have seen a lot of folks I know from the Vectric forum. I am pleased the spirit of this forum is helpful and friendly (just like the Vectric forum) without the bickering you see on so many forums.

Hi Joe,
Congratulations on your Stinger order
Now you have time to plan on where you want to place it and get everything ready.
What machine software are you going to use Mach3 or WinCNC?
Did you order any Vectric software?

Hi Mick,
I got the Stinger I with every upgrade possible including the vacuum table. The new ones come with the WinCNC standard so I will have to learn a new system.
I didn't get any Vectric software with it since I have been using Aspire ever since it came out and VCP and Cut3D before that. I kept my software and all of my 3D models when I sold the other machines.
Finding a place for it will be a challenge. The laser is 4'X7' overall plus I have the radial arm saw, band saw, table saw, sanders, a Harley...and a deep freeze in my garage already. There isn't enough room in there to cuss a cat without getting a mouth full of fur. But at least I don't have a lease payment and payroll every month!

I am also waiting on a stinger fully loaded with recoil, vac table aspire WinCNC. I guess I got a longer wait. I too have space probelms with too many tools in my shop. (don't have a harley though and my dog would love to meet your cat) I tried to reason the Stinger II but space not price kept me away as this is just a hobby right?
I drew up a steel frame I am getting built for my stinger I. I attached it again. Use it if you want and get it fabricated from a craigslist welder search. I found a guy to build it for 350$.

Waiting for your C.N.C. is a Camaster right of passage for every new owner.
And according to the wilkpedia definition..... with a few add on's, is
"A Camaster rite of passage is a long or short ritual event (which is dependent on Camaster's workload) that marks a person's progress from one status (non-C.N.C. workshop) to another (bold yellow C.N.C. shop). It is a universal woodworker phenomenon which can show other woodworkers what social hierarchies (my Camaster has more accessory's than yours), values (be your own boss/or great hobby) and beliefs (I believe I am going to learn how to operate WINCNC/MACH3/V-Carve/Aspire eventually) are important in specific woodworking cultures".

Joe, and Wood Mouse You are going to love your machines.

Wood Mouse...Thanks for the plans. I will have to look into that as I have several friends who are welders. When I started looking at the CAMasters I went from the Stinger I to something 5X10 with ATC. Finally, my wife put her foot down and said if I got the Stinger I it would keep me from taking on bigger and bigger projects until I was right back in business again. She reminded me this is supposed to be fun. And, she is right, so I am planning on a lot of fun.
Robert...At my age I have been through so many rites of passage I think I have a perpetual season's pass. But, alas, I guess there is no rushing this.

I was under the impression that Joe and I would take care of that, ( not speaking for Joe ) ?
If you would just shoot us an email or some other really quick information we could do it. YOU [nih] need to be cranking out those machines!

Awww...shucks, Jim, you are too kind. It is I, a mere babe in the woods, who basks in the warmth of your talent.
Okay..enough of that. I am just glad to be this far along in getting my machine instead of waiting to get paid for my old ones like I was doing last week.
Good to hear from you again!

Thank Joey. Im Impressed! [fantastic] I never got a gold star before.
Joe I'm no phyicologist from what I read your not retired. You just want your wife to think your retired.[lol]
HMMM. What color to paint the steel stand once it is fabricated. Is it saftey yellow or a shade of yellow? How about Golden yellow then it will match the color of the rest of my woodworking machines. You know the company that use the the phrase "The Gold Standard".
I use to do work in a paper mill that had alot of refiners of different brands. The man in charge had them painted green. He was asked in a meeting why green, why not brown to match the paper stock that spills on them. He said "They are now John Deere green. They will never break down now"
Do I see a possible correlation?[wink]

the color is actually school bus yellow, sherwin williams can mix it and there is a formula, i painted my older camaster and it matched the new one perfectly!!

Is that what to ask for..."school bus yellow?" I was going to ask what the RGB components were so I could paint my bedroom walls that color. I thought perhaps it would ease the wait [thumbs]

Sorry but even Jim needs a correction once in a while.
The color has changed due to the decision to powder coat all the frame and not paint. But I do like a black table it makes the machine stand out in pics.
ok then where is the old formula?
?

If you have more cremation urns (http://www.memorials.com/cremation-urns.php)... then i am interested to purchase it....
Gripus

If you are asking me, we no longer manufacture any urns. When we closed our business we wholesaled out all of our remaining inventory.
