Default photo vcarve

Can anyone tell me what materials or type of wood that they have had success with when using photo vcarve? I tried a test piece of pine and contrast(?) wasn't so hot. You Couldn't hardly tell what picture was of. Ha!
Or do you know of any other programs to get photos engraved into material? Thanks.

For wood you might try wiping on some stain to bring out the photo!

use white or almond (bone) solid surface,, if you use a SS with particulate in it then your pic will look like it has Measles

Kevin,
Have you looked to the Halftoner program?
It makes interesting photo type carvings.

Like counter top materal. Before you buy any try it out first. You can find a local cabinet shop or top shop and buy some scraps.
