  • Hypertherm plasma retrofitting?

Has anyone tried to install a Hypertherm plasma head on a Camaster? I've got a Stinger 1 which has been collecting dust (but I'm an equipment hoarder so I cannot part with it) and I finally have an application / excuse / need for a plasma cutter.

I'm completely uneducated about plasma (and Hypertherm) so I thought this might be the best place to ask if anyone else is doing it??

I doubt anyone has tried to do it honestly. The few of us that cut metal cut mostly non-ferrous stuff and nothing super thick. I'm not saying it can't be done but in addition to adding the plasma cutter itself you would need to be able to control the on/off functionality. The physical upgrades to the deck would also be pretty substantial I would guess. If you have any questions on if controlling a plasma cutter is possible I would contact WinCNC support. I believe they provide boards for some CNC plasma cutters and they might be able to tell you what you'd need on the control side to make it work.

That's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for... Thank you.
