  • Where to learn how to get started...

    Hello,
After reading about what happens if its done wrong, and seeing next to nothing in the Stinger Manual regarding the Recoil I was wondering if there is a "how to" set up and getting started using the Recoil. I think I have my Aspire file set up fine, and have my material center as the z0. But I don't know how to set z0 on my Stinger1 and need some other basic startup info. Just not finding it.

Can anyone point me to some good start up docs I can read?

    Thank you,
    Ian

    Ian,
I highly recommend Gary Campbells one on one rotary lathe class. Its done over the phone with a nice Power Point slide show. Gary does an excellent job in getting you off the ground to use the lathe. Well worth the time. Send him a message to get more info....you won't regret it.

I would second the recommendation for Gary’s rotary class, well worth the expense!

In addition to Gary's training, there are several CAMaster-specific videos on YouTube that provide some tips for using the rotary axis. Mick Martain, has one that walks through setup, for example.

I learned from the YouTube videos, but would have saved time and money by taking Gary's training (didn't know about it at the time).

Is Gary still doing this one in one training? I’ve had my rotary sitting in my shop for almost 2 years now. I just had shoulder surgery so with everything coming to a stop figured it’s about time for me to get off my butt and finally do some learning.

Ditto from me on Gary's recoil class definitely worth every penny.

Seeing if this is through CAMaster or something external. Thanks!

I can send you his powerpoint slides that he uses in the class but I need to check with him first since he asks me not to share. YouTube videos are great. I have two monitors so I can bring the video up on one and follow along on the other so if I miss something I can wind back. I tried split screen but unless you have a thirty inch it is too hard IMHO. Send me your email address to hyde.consulting@comcast.net so I can send you the PowerPoints if Gary gives the OK.

                    Keith,

if Gary was/is ok with it - I too would like the slide presentation.
I sure wish that Gary was doing one-on-one still. I have so many questions.

                    Thanks,
