Has anyone tried to use a 25' 37 Pin cable (x 2 on mine) to control the Stinger III? I'd like to move the PC indoors and just do a KVM extender for the garage. I don't like the dust or heat. :)

I suggest you have a conversation with the folks at WinCNC to see what their parameters are for that particular and critical cable.

I took a different approach...the PC is installed under the CNC table just behind the control box of my Stinger II. I use a longer HDMI cable for the 25" screen and it's the only cable that goes to the computer other than Ethernet for the network. I use a wireless keyboard and rodent. HDMI can be extended quite a ways with a quality cable.

Looks good! I really just wanted to get the PC out of the heat. I've upgraded what WinCNC sent me and I'm running a much more powerful machine but I do a bit of development in my garage so I can adjust on the fly. My goal was to punch a hole in the wall, run these cables into my second office in the house and run the machine there, then do a KVM extender to the garage for my screen and keyboard/mouse. For clarity, I also run my laser off of the same machine so wanted a faster machine. :) I did check with WINCNC and they suggested 10' as the maximum but I've done electronics and controls my entire career and figured a shielded cable 25' would be fine, just wondered if anyone else had done it before I order the cable.!!

The shop is my garage and it's attached to my house... it's already tapped out for power and if I add more, I have to cover up my swimming pool. :D Honestly, I'm about to have them run another 100A circuit into my garage just for my stuff in there and close off my additional cover so I can double the space. It's getting too packed in there! Stinger III, a 20"X28" laser, a miter saw, planer, joiner, bench router, tool box, work bench... I've got 12 lbs of **** in a 10 lb bag!! :D

ETA: Oh, and a dust collector and I need to figure out how to set up my vacuum system and silence it so I don't annoy the neighbors. :D

I switched to a Harvey G700 for the new shop. I will not say it's silent, but it's more mangable for sound level and sound quality than the big Oneida's I've been using since the early 2000s.

Thanks for the heads up! I've never tried mine, it's a Hurricane. How effective are they for not letting smaller parts slip? Say a 3.5" coaster?

Sorry for the confusion...two topics going on that involve moving air. The G700 is for dust collection. The Hurricane is for vacuum table use. Unfortunately, the type of vacuum developed by the Black Box product, while great for sheet goods, is not the best for small fixtures. Holding a 3.5" coaster is a different animal than cabinet parts. There's a whole discussion area here at Camheads that deals with vacuum and dust collection that you might find helpful.

It's not specifically recommended, but I ran a 20ft with no issues. Get a quality cable and I doubt you have any trouble.

Update: Installed 50' cables, everything works great. Shielded I think is the key.
