I need advice for dust management. Camaster dust boot and Etsy bought dust boot with clear screen is not working. My garage will fill with dust after one use. Please advise. I spent most time in cleaning rather than using machine.

Check this guy out. I couldn't give a higher recommendation. There is no reason to have dust flying around. -One Guy In a Shop / Etsy

Don't know anything about your machine size or your vacuum system. However, an important element of dust collection is CFM, having lots of airflow (cubic feet per minute). After that be sure it is all grounded properly to avoid static problems. A little dust collector system with a bag isn't moving much air.Charlie L

Yep, it's all about CFMs plus I highly recommend a cyclone separator.

Thank you! I have ****** Cflux 1, 1300 cfm, do I need a bigger system. Usually I don’t run otherworldly equipment with cnc.

I don't think your ****** DC is the issue so I think it is possibly the boot you are using. Many of us including myself use the Kent Dust Boot and it works very well. I have cut MDF on my machine which is the worst for dust in my opinion and nothing escapes. FWIWKeith Hyde, Winchester, VA

You will never get perfect/complete collection at the CNC machine as well as many other tools, but a good hood design and provision for best effort air flow will get you as best as you can do.
For the record, I use a Kent dust shoe on my SR-44 and get pretty good collection.---

Jim Becker and GtgMarine,
To clarify - if you can fit a 6" boot to the main trunkline of your DC system - you will get better performance overall, correct?
I want to use a ridgid pipe from the boot (to a height that clears the transit arm) then connect from the "stovepipe" to the main DC trunkline with 6" flexible hose.
How do you support the weight? I know the boot typically has a compression/squeeze clamp adjusted by a screw. How do you support the "stovepipe"?
Thanks,
Clint

Clint, assuming your DC's blower is capable, it's certainly true that a larger line is going to be able to move more air and therefore, move more dust/chips. But you also have to factor in other things when deciding about how to handle the connection to your CNC machine, one of them being weight. A Stinger II/III's Z axis with the air assisted counterbalance is no slouch, but I'd urge caution about using a heavier collection setup than 4" that adds a lot to the load that both the stepper motor and counterbalance need to deal with. Right now, I'm slightly uncomfortable with the length of the 4" hose I have to the CNC machine with my 10' high ceiling. No way would I want a 6" hose or even a 5" hose which is what's ideal in my system for a drop. And due to the nature of the CNC's operation, the gain in collection performance may not be a lot...even with a great hula skirt, a lot of material is still going to "get away" from the collection because it's not directly at the tooling position because of it being necessary to offset. On big-butt CNC machine that have really hefty gantries and servos, you have the space to create a more directed collection system and the ability to handle the weight.
As I mentioned, I've been very happy with the Kent shoe on my SR-44 which in effect is similar to your SR-48 other than you have a heavier weight spindle. Adding more weight? I wouldn't do that.---
