  • Need some help with Dovetail drawers in Mozaik

    Hi friends,

I'm stuck having an issue with dovetail drawers in Mosaik. I'm using the Vortex 9101 dovetail tool and the 1/4 compression to make the dovetails but I can't close this gap. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Ive tried adjusting the tail depth but nothing seems to change.

    Thanks,

    Philip

I would try lying to it about your material thickness, assuming that you have it exact already.

Thanks Ken. I'll give that a shot and see what happens. I'll post the results.

              UPDATE

So I tried lying to it about my material thickness as Ken suggested and it immediately fixed the "gap" issue, BUT you know what they say about lying....once you start lying, you have to tell another one to cover up the 1st one. SO... since I told it my material was only 11.2mm (instead of 12.4) like it actually is, when the machine cut the grooves for the drawer bottoms, the grooves were cut for an 11.2mm piece so they are too tight for the bottoms to go in. Haha... Oh well, I'm learning much here and will open a ticket with Mosaik in the morning to see if there is another fix.

I appreciate any and all feedback!

              Thanks,

              Philip

There is a setting to adjust slop for drawer bottoms. If you would add your 1.2 mm to that setting I think that would compensate for your "lying" .

Thanks Barney! I'll give that a shot. I'm doing some more experimenting tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes.

Lying to your machine is ok when it's necessary..........JUST REMEMBER THE LIE YOU TOLD IT AND ADJUST FROM THERE OR IT WILL BITE YOU IN THE BUTT IN THE FUTURE.

I've had to lie to mine alot in the past because of the huge variation in thicknesses from one material to another. Some even in the same batch.
