Anyone able to decipher a serial number on a machine?

I am thinking YYMM#### where first digits is year, then month the machine was built then the order number for that year? Is this right?

Your idea works on my machine, Ordered April 2012 and serial starts with 1204. But I don't know the direct answer to your question.

There should be a serial number plate on the machine, typically on the "back" of the machine on the frame.

I've seen pictures of the serial plate. My Stinger didn't come with one, or with the vacuum piping holes in the frame. It's not a problem, just weird.
