I do a .015 offset. I use a roughing bit ( old ) and a final pass bit ( newish ) the final pass runs full depth and it helps clear out packed in dust.

I use compression bits for both passes.

All I use are downcut and mortise compression bits. I leave the chips to fall or pack where they may.
My dust collector is 1800cfm though and it cleans up my table pretty well while cutting.

The shrink wrap is a good idea. This time of year a boat shop may still have their wrap stuff handy, doesn't hurt to ask.

You could either buy some stuff from them or have them do it for you.
