The shrink wrap is a good idea. This time of year a boat shop may still have their wrap stuff handy, doesn't hurt to ask.

You could either buy some stuff from them or have them do it for you.

I would just glue the spoilboard down with regular pva wood glue. When it gets to the point of risking cut through, machine it off and glue down new ones.

Somebody on here lately had the multi pin cable plugged into the wrong connector on the pc. Definitely check the simple stuff 1st.
