oops, forgot to tell you material used, it is Alupanel, it's a bit more beefier then the MaxMetal stuff I've used before. They also have a bit more selection when it comes to colors.

That is really nice looking, Bob. What kind of pressure did you have to use with the diamond bit? And what size is the emblem? Is the AluPanel softer than aluminum?.....so many questions.

I cant wait to see the finished results!

So the pressure is .2 “depth of cut”. I did 20 different test “drags” with the 90 and the 120 degree bit to see which ones worked the best. The cross hatch is at .04. The aluminum this company uses is 5052 I believe and the actual aluminum is 2x as thick as the MaxMetal and you can feel it. The AluPanel stuff comes in a few more colors, I’m going to try some of their “mirrored” stuff soon. This emblem is 11x11 inches. Took a little over 3 hours to do.

The price is slightly higher then the MaxMetal which I am amazed by seeing that the AluPanel stuff is made in the UK from what I have researched.

The pictures don’t really show how freakishly sparkly it is, it’s bizarre.

Thanks for the details, Bob. I have an AluPanel site bookmarked to do some more research. The stuff looks quite interesting.

Here is the progress so far. Had to test fit the inlay before cutting it all the way out (in case I had to tweak the size). It fit almost too good, my usual stick a piece of tape to it to pull it out was a failure, had to resort to a careful pry with a knife technique. Sorry about the funky pictures, still haven’t figured out how to hold my iPhone to get the pictures to come out in the proper orientation.
