Default Little Movements in Corners

So Im doing a pocket carving in a barrel head. I ran a 1/4 bit to clearance, and now Im running an 1/8 to finish the pockets. The 1/4 ran normally, but the 1/8 is doing a pass around each letter and then going to each corner and doing this little mid-air spiral dance for about 5 seconds. Its not hurting anything, but its causing the carving to take forever. Did I accidentally check a box I shouldnt have or something? The video I took wont load for some reason.

This is a question asked on the Vectric forum too.

A simple experiment would be to carve the pocket using only the 1/4 end mill. Then a second toolpath as a profile using the smaller tool.

That's a great idea, honestly. I think it may be because I had a 0.5" ramp checked on the 1/8" bit, which caused it to just slowly lower and spin when it went in to clean a corner (though the corners really didn't need to be cleaned in the first place).

Bob, what you described about the ramps make sense. Especially if the feed rate for Z is slower than X and Y. The slowest feed rate is used for ramps.

This is normal behavior for Vectric software when pocketing. The return to the corners is a "clean up" operation. And yes, it does take a little time.
