Default Add-on Laser Engraver

I see Camaster is now offering an add-on laser engraver option... can you send me more information on this? I have a Stinger II - SR-34, 1.7 KW HSD Collet Spindle, Stinger Performance Package.
I would like to know how this laser is adapted to the existing machine, options available and price.

Not available as an upgrade for existing owners. Great, huh?

https://jtechphotonics.com/?product=...-in-one-bundle may be an option for you. And with an SR-34 with spindle, you probably have an additional connector on your PC that you could use for control. But you'll have to make some custom macros...

I'm not seeing an upgrade option for Camaster on there website.

I have laser access at work but can not do laser photo art. Does the camaster 7w laser allow this?

WinCNC can do bitmap laser etching. Itís an upgrade. You canít currently do it from Vectric software, from what I understand.

Camaster's laser option is only available on a new machine, not as a retrofit. For new machines, it's listed in the upgrades document for each series of machine that it's available on. If you have your Camaster machine already, you'll need to consider a third party add-on if you want a laser or use a separate laster machine appropriate for the kind of work you want to do.

You can use the laser with Vectric software; you just can't use the new Vectric laser toolpath option as the Camaster setup isn't a supported system.

if i recall, CAMaster has been providing laser post processors to those requesting. but, it looks as though Vectric has added a laser CAMaster inch post processor for free download from the jtech website....

https://jtechphotonics.com/?p=3851

the 7w would be able to perform raster (back and forth - graphic) work. the vector (single line) ability would be weak. this is what is typically used when cutting wood. our 150w laser can cut 1/2" hardwood. so you can guess where a 7w would land...

PPs generally come from the machine manufacturers, so I would guess that Camaster provided the PP to Vectric to include in the list.

A PP is a separate thing from support of the new Vectric laser toolpathing option, however. You don't want to spend the money for that until Vectric officially supports the specific laser implementation. There's been a whole lot of angst on that in the Vectric community where people bought the option but never consulted the list of supported machines/solutions.

There are many folks out there using lightburn software for their laser applications. I do not know if this software is compatible with WinCnc or CAMaster. I have seen some beautiful work done on cnc's using it. It will control the laser power for shading and intensity. There is a Jtec laser group on facebook that is worth checking out.

This is a piece done by Jeff Vortisch using Lightburn software which is G-Code and a J-Tec 7 watt laser.
