Default 32' set piece

I just finished my first tiled job - 7 4' x 8' sheets making a stage set piece 32' wide and spanning nearly 8' in the vertical direction. I did this using VCarve Pro's toolpath tiling feature and it was surprisingly straightforward. I had some minor matchup issues on the edges, either due to my sheet not being perfectly aligned to xy 0,0 or manufacturing issues on the sheets themselves. I was pretty happy nonetheless.

The main set piece was made out of 1/2" MDF.

This set piece was made to have "pins" hung on it - I carved these out of 3/4" MDF. In hindsight 1/2" would have probably been fine, but the extra thickness gave the pins some more depth visually.

Total cut time was probably about 20 hours using a combination of pocket cutting and VCarving.

The pieces were painted by spray painting the carved areas and then painting a solid color over the uncut area using a low-nap roller. There was minor bleeding into the carved areas due to the roller pressing into the carving a bit, but from stage distances it looked fabulous.

I had a bit of damage on a couple of the zig-zag areas - a couple of the inner pieces broke off. Interestingly this didn't happen on the first sheet with the smallest zig zags, it happened on one of the middle sheets. I wonder if it was manufacturing tolerance issues with the glue where there were some weaker spots.

I learned a lot making this. Thanks for the help from several of you to get to this point.

I'm affiliated with a large Christian organization and this was a representation of the spread of the Gospel through history.

Very very impressive! That timeline would just barely fit in my shop.
Would you be willing to share the timeline data? I may like to make something similar to hang in our church...just not 32" long!
