Default lubrication

First time lubricator here... (rant)

finding it a treat, not. have the Hiwin substitutes on our Panther. on the Y axis linear bearings, zerk fittings were installed at factory, see pic.

a standard grease gun fitting will not seat on the zerk, not enough space. will a needle adapter work on a standard zerk fitting? i tried a needle adapter on the zerk, by trying to "push in" the ball but didn't think i was getting any grease to go in.

and, it looks like getting at the z ballscrew block may take a long straight extension to get behind the spindle mount...

any advice appreciated.

My Cobra did not have zerks I have upgraded it to zerks, some spots like yours where a traditional zerk would not work, I used Low Profile Grease Zerks which work with a grease needle nozzle. Sorry I don't recall what the thread pitch was. Fairly certain I bought them from McMaster-Carr.

I keep two grease guns one with a standard end and one with the needle.

I use a needle extension for some of the regular grease zerks on my z axis.I don't know about the panther but on the Cobra elite the ball screw is greased through a hole in the spindle mounting plate.

Could you get in there using a right angle grease nozzle?

I bought one of these. The tip is concave and you just push it up against the zerk and try not to make a huge mess.

I feel your pain, my stinger came with needle inserts but so far I've only been
able to get grease in one of them. I hate to think how much time I've invested in trying to lubricate this machine
